Burbank, CA 36,000 square feet The design of the new three-story Network office building combines the industrial building materials of the Ranch with the Mediterranean forms found on the main studio lot. The exposed concrete block walls and steel warehouse style windows transform the otherwise traditional forms into a transitional link between the two lots creating a unity of space and function for a coherent working environment. The strong masonry base restricts light to the darkened post-production spaces on the lower floors. In contrast, the expansive windows of the top floor flood the administrative spaces with natural light. This building, the first of several new buildings planned for the Warner Bros. Ranch, will stand as a precedent to define the stylistic direction of the entire lot. |
