When asked by the Lyon family to design their vacation
home in Palm Springs, the world famous Mecca of
mid-century modern design, Profeta Royalty eagerly
accepted the challenge. Building on the principles of
early modernism, the house is composed of simple,
rectilinear geometry with strong, horizontal lines. The
wide open plan is well suited for both casual entertaining
and comfortable desert living. The use of a minimal glass
curtain wall creates a lively interaction between indoor
and outdoor living space. Tucked under the second floor,
the patio extends toward the pool and steps into the
water around a double sided outdoor fireplace.
