When designing a guesthouse and swimming pool for his
Neutra-inspired home in the Encino Hills, Scott Profeta
drew heavily from the simple modern geometry of the
existing house. “Our goal was to create a seamless
addition that fit perfectly with the existing aesthetic”. The
guesthouse was added to the rear of the garage
completing the third side of an open ended courtyard. To
maximize the patio area within the courtyard, the
swimming pool was recessed into the hillside. From the
retaining wall behind the pool spills a sheet of water. A
corner window in the guest house provides a perfect view
of the pool and waterfall.
