The new headquarters campus for the Huntington Medical
Research Institute occupies almost a full city block in
downtown Pasadena, California. Profeta Royalty provided
conceptual architectural design services in conjunction
with HLW International’s masterplanning. The project was
conceived in four phases of clinical buildings, laboratory
buildings, parking structures and a commons building
arranged around a central garden courtyard. Our goal was
to create a coherent image and setting for HMRI through a
design that acknowledges the inherent high-tech aspect of
the building functions while respecting the historic context
and scale of downtown Pasadena.
