Figueroa Residence
Long Beach, CA
1,900 square feet

Because it sits on a tiny lot within a dense residential
district less than three blocks from the beach, the owner
wanted her three bedroom home to emphasize the
quality of space instead of the size of the house. Profeta
Royalty created a wide open feeling by increasing the
ceiling height from the standard eight feet to ten. In the
main living space, the volume extends through the
second floor to a ring of clerestory windows which flood
the house with natural light. The entire ground floor is
virtually one open room containing the living room, dining
room, and kitchen. To further expand the living space, the
line between inside and out is blurred by the use of a
movable glass wall at the dining room.
