Culver City, CA 6,900 square feet 367 seats The largest of Sony Pictures' 10 rerecording stages, the 367-seat Cary Grant Theatre strives to meld the future with the best of the past. Designed by Scott Profeta while at HLW, the theater now features a 288 full-channel mixing console, along with an all-digital machine room. Working within the parameters of the existing building to minimizing demolition and structural framing, the interior of the theatre was designed as a streamlined modern space, continuing the imagery of the existing Art Deco entry and complimenting the surrounding Art Deco spaces on the lot. The layering planes and lines of the space create a dramatic sense of movement toward the screen while leaving the overall space feeling open, clean and simple |
